May 2008

Thought I would begin a new 2008 post to allow the new date to show in the sidebar. Even though we have recent posts, it appears that no one is posting because the dates showing are 2007. To post, click on “Comments” link below and you’ll be able to add your comment in the box that shows up. Most of our posts previous to this one are found in the right sidebar —>>>  and also under the July 2007 link in the sidebar.

Hi Annette, thought I might be able to add a little to your site which I just found today. William M Potter (s/o Shooter Ike Potter & Elizabeth Anderson) married Sarah Sturdivant (d/o Pleasant G Sturdivant & Manerva Hogg) 5 Dec 1875 in Letcher County. I do have some differences in William M Potter’s children from what you are showing but my only source is census records. I have children as William O, James Edgar, Henry Germade, Lacy M, Louis E, and Fern Virginia. The census records I have found are:

1900 census, Mag Dist 2, Millstone, Letcher, KY, 25 Jun 1900.
HH 315/318 William M Potter age 30, wife Sarah age 23, sons Willie O age 4, James E age 2. William and Sarah married 6 years. Sarah mother of 3 children, 2 living.

1910 census, Civil Dist 14, Greene Co, TN, 19 Apr 1910.
HH 37/37 William M Potter age 37, wife Sarrah E age 35, sons Willie age 14, Edgar age 11, Germade age 7, Lacie age 5, daughter Luis E age 1 year 9 months. William and Sarah married 18 years. Sarah mother of 7 children, 5 living.

1920 census, Town of Akron, Washington County, CO , 19 Jan 1920.
HH 36/38 William M Potter age 50, Sherif Washington County, wife Sarah age 44, son James E age 21, son Henry G age 16, daughter Lacy M age 14, son Louis E age 11, daughter Fern V, age 8, lodger Guy P Martin age 24.

1930 census, Akron Town, Washington Co, CO, 7 May 1930.
HH 107/110 William M Potter age 61, wife Sarah E age 55, son Lacy M age 24, daughter Virginia age 17.

I hope this info helps someone. Sarah Sturdivant is my ggrandmother’s sister. Guy Martin found in the 1930 census is my grandfather.

Thanks for all the information on you site.

Hi Annette, Thank you again for adding my family information to Mack Jessee Wright Austin. The date of his death needs to be corrected though–it should read 1930. Everything else seems fine. Your website is wonderful. I hope I will hear from someone who knows about Margaret J Austin and her children. Thanks again for all your dedication and work to this site. sincerely, Barbara

Hi Barbara, You are very welcome and thank you for adding your information to the site. I think I fixed that one error earlier today. If I have the right page in mind; I think it was something like 1030 instead of 1930 or something like that. Please let me know if I made the correct changes and if not, contact me again and I will be sure to correct it. Thank you very much for letting me know about it. I really appreciate it very much. My Sincere Regards, Annette
