Hi Everyone,

Just got back online today. My modem went out and had to order a new one which took several days to get in. I’m sorry I had no way to let everyone know that I was off line, but when your modem goes out, there is not much you can do about it but wait till.the replacement comes.

To Kaie:

I’m so very sorry I haven’t received anything until just now getting your notice here in the feedback page about Jinaquin. I’m so very sorry to have missed you. I can’t imagine what could have gone wrong with the prayer requests and I’m so sorry they weren’t received. Please know that even though I don’t know the details about Jinaquin, that I will be sure to request prayer for her on the website. I’m so very sorry that she is having problems. I will certainly pray for her well being. Please call me if you have the opportunity.

Luv you,
Annette

To Anne:

Hi and thank you for your message. I would love to read her book, also! Can’t wait to get it. I hope to purchase it also as time allows.

I also look forward to receiving more of your wonderful photos and as always, thank you for all your submissions. You know without you and others who love genealogy we couldn’t have a website.

Luv to you and your family,
Annette

Hi Hazel, Anne, and Everyone,

I wanted to let you know that I found out yesterday that Jinaquin Thompson, d/o Alethea (Potter) Terrell and 1st husband, Darrell Thompson, (granddaughter of Clark and Kaie (Steely) Potter) is in the hospital for a ruptured appendix. Apparently from my phone call yesterday with her grandmother, Kaie, she has had and continues to have a very difficult time because the hospital she went to in the beginning never diagnosed her properly and she spent several days with the poisons of a ruptured appendix invading her body.

Kaie told me that her granddaughter, Jinaquin, is doing better, but that she is still in very guarded condition and to please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Kaie tells me that Jinaquin has had more than one surgery to remove the poisons from her body and other complications. I pray that she comes out of this without any lasting effects and that she completely recovers to her previous state of very good health so that she can get back to her ballet dancing.

Love to All,
Annette Potter

Hello Annette,
Great to hear you are back up and running, I have been really busy lately so I haven’t been online much at all. I held a small family reunion at my home Saturday, July 5th for my siblings and their families and all turned out wonderful, we had our children, grandchildren and even some great grandchildren attend, with several traveling out of state to get here. There were about 77 that attended in all. We enjoyed games like volleyball, badminton, horseshoes, we had our pool going so anyone that wanted to go swimming could, all the children really enjoyed that one, and all the food, we had the grill going most of the day, fresh barbecue, baked beans with Cole slaw and all the home made pies and cobblers, best food in the county, even our mail man wanted to get out and eat with us haha. I got lots of pictures and home movies, two of my nephews and my son played music for us most of the day and well into the night, all the festivities started about 11:00 am and ran until about 12:30 am, first time in years we all got together without it being a sickness or funeral of a family member.
I hope that I have started a new family tradition, so plans are in the works for the one next year, hopefully it will be even bigger and better than this one.
I had a memorial table set up for our mom and dad with all the old photo albums, everyone really enjoyed looking through those and reminiscing the old times. It was blessing for me to see the expressions on the faces of my siblings and to hear them talking about their times of growing up in the mountains, a time that is gone now but still lives fresh in the memories of my brother and sisters. As I was looking at my siblings that a day, a terrible sadness came over me as one of us was missing from our group, my beloved brother Bruce, but I came to understand that if he was looking down upon us he would of been proud to see that we are still all together with something that was instilled in us as children, children that grew up poor in worldly goods but rich in the most important thing of all…..love.
It was a day for me to stop and count all the blessings that God in Heaven has bestowed upon me of his wonderful love, in letting me be a part of such a wonderful family as mine.
I hope that by having this reunion that maybe we have helped place memories in the hearts of all our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, similar to the ones that our parents gave to us growing up.
I wanted to share with you and Hazel, what a wonderful reunion it turned out to be for me and my family and to thank you for all the hard work you do for others to enjoy.
Love Ya
Anne

Hi Anne,

Thank you for sharing your time with all of us. I really love it when we get to share your great family reunion and get together memories. It’s almost as good as being there to get to hear about the details of your visits with family and friends.

I’m very happy to be back on line, too. I had a modem go out on me, but it is fine now and probably better than ever. They replaced it free of charge and I really appreciated that. Hazel said, “Why didn’t you go to the library and email me”?… Isn’t she a treasure?….haha! I just love her to pieces. She missed me and I sure as shootin’ missed her, too.

It’s so good to hear from you and hope to hear from you again soon and often. I’ve also been occupied with adding some great photos that my Reynolds family sent me to the site. I have never had the pleasure of seeing the photos that were submitted by Johnny Reynolds, and I can tell you that they are just wonderful. You can see them on the William Henry Reynolds II Pages. He has just made my day by sending those in to add to the site!

I’ve also been adding some other things that I found on the internet, such as the 7th Kentucky Union Cavalry Rosters and the Harlan County Union Battalion Roster. I’ve just got to where when I find something on the web, I save it because I have lost so much information by just linking to their pages when they shut them down, I can no longer get the info. I’ve had that happen more times than I care to remember, but from now on, when I find something, I am saving it to my computer!

I love your post. Hope to hear from you again soon,
Annette

Hi Annette,
I have been on the site as usual this morning and love seeing all the new additions, I wanted to tell you I really enjoyed reading the artical on the Storytellers you added and also thank you for adding the roster list for the 13th Ky Cavalry CSA, my great grandfather Ransom T Holbrook served with this unit as did his two brothers Randolph and Jesse Holbrook, my great grandfather was only 16 years old when he joined to fight with the 13th Ky. out of Whitesburg Ky. I have a copy of their mustered in papers and also as I was in Letcher County this year, I had the pleasure of finding his grave site where a group called the Sons of the Confedercy has placed a civil war marker for him. The Sons of the Confedercy is a group that find the civil war soliders gravesites and place the markers for a memorial to the men that fought in a war that was unlike any the United States has ever fought before or after, as this was surley a war where brother fought aganist brother.
While visiting this cemetery I took several pictures of my great grandfathers burial site and thank you for adding those to my pictures for me. It was a very humbling expericence for me to know that my ancestors took such a great part of making our nation the greatest nation on earth.
I just wanted to tell you again how much I enjoy the site and thank you for all the work you put forth for others.
Love Ya
Anne

Hi Anne,

Thank you for your very nice post. I also enjoyed the Story Tellers which was sent in to me by email by Linda Potter Whitt. Thanks to Linda for submitting “The Story Tellers”.

I have added lots of info on the Civil War and hope to add more. It seems if I don’t gather up the information and put it on the website, I often lose it and can’t ever find it again. I linked the Holbrook brothers to their respective 13th Kentucky Cavalry pages so we can see them on the roster of their company. It’s amazing to me how our ancestors risked it all to go fight in that war. I know for a fact that many of the feuds of our ancestors were a direct result of that war.

I was also struck by the way the prisoners of war were treated by their captors in the Civil War. There were many atrocities against both Confederate and Union Soldiers in the Prison Camps. 10’s of thousands died as a result of abuse, torture, starvation and neglect. Another interesting thing about the Civil War was the birth rate. If you notice, children were often not born to families between 1862 and 1865. The birth rate was very low during that period. Some of the soldiers would go home on furlough and that often resulted in children being born during those years.

One other interesting matter of note was that the Confederates were considered Democrats and the Union Soldiers were considered Republicans. My mother said her grandfather, Elijah Bunt Fuller went in as a Democrat and came out a Republican. She told me that her grandfather didn’t like the things that were going on and that he changed sides; much unlike those Confederates who were forced to vow allegiance to the Union when they were captured. I wish now that I had gotten the details from her about that remark, but unfortunately I didn’t. My Great Grandfather was a very interesting man.

My other relatives, the Reynolds, deserted the Confederacy early on and joined the Union forces. I believe that was one of the main reasons for a feud which took place in their days after the Civil War and that lasted many years thereafter. There were also a lot of my ancestors that were Confederates to the very end and never changed sides.

Hope to hear from you again,
Luv ya,
Annette

Hi Annette,
Thanks for all in the information on the Civil War, I am a big history nut and that period of time if one of my favorites to research, even my youngest grandson is a civil war reenactor for the 5th Tennessee Infantry and has a reenactment in Bowling Green, Ky. this weekend. He is the youngest member of his group and takes the roll of message and flag carrier, he has been in interviewed in several local newspapers. Wesley has always had a love for American History ( like his grandma ) haha and as I started researching our family and found that his 3rd great grandfather played such a big part in that war as did all the soldiers that fought, was one of the reasons that inspired him to become a reenactor in which he takes a lot of pleasure in doing, as I take pleasure in attending the events. It is like seeing history come alive right before your eyes, it is truly amazing for a big history buff as myself . I do have several pictures of Wesley in uniform and on the battle field and the newspaper clippings that I will hopefully will get sent to you before to long.
Could you please add my brother Jimmy Holbrook to the prayer list for me, he is suffering from heart problems and heat exhaustion and was put in the hospital Sunday afternoon so I have been spending most of my time with him since he has no family here other than me and my sisters, all of his children live out of state. I was at the hospital until late last night and he is on the mend but it will take him quite awhile to recover.
Again thank you so much for answering my post and all the encouragement you give to us. I so enjoy researching my genealogy and you always help me in my search and give me areas to look that I would never think about without your help.
I hope you have a wonderful day and I hope to call you soon to talk with you on the phone.
God Bess

I am showing Joseph Kiser b. 1756 as Joseph Kenton Sr. married to Mary Shelly. She was the daughter of Christian Shelley who was the son of Abraham Zschille.
I don’t know if I am correct or not and would appreciate any light that you can shed on the family.

8. Clarinda Hall m. Melvin Skaggs; m. Ray Pridemore

Just wanted to let you know that Melvin’s last name was Staggs not Skaggs. I knew Clarinda Hall as Virginia Wren Hall – this would have been my great grandmother. Also Clarinda/Viginia was never married to Ray Pridemore they just had a child together.

Hi Anne,

Thanks for your great information about the re-enactors of the Civil War battles. That is one way we can preserve one small part of our great American history.

I love our country’s history. I hope our families never forget that we come from ancestors who were very often heroic and very fine people. I don’t want our children and their children to ever forget where they came from. It’s getting harder and harder to keep our history alive. New generations change the history books to appease the minorities and we may not have any history if we don’t carefully preserve it.

Thanks again,
Annette

Hi Hazel and Everyone,

I would like to thank my good friend and cousin, Hazel Potter Thompson, for being so good about working with me on the website. She has just been so good about adding all kinds of information to the families and for helping me figure out who goes with whom on the site. Let me tell you, it is no easy task to figure it all out. We have really worked hard together for a long time on this website and I would like to make sure to give Hazel her due for all the good things she has done to make this a better website.

We have worked together going on 3 years now and I think that Hazel has done a wonderful job at putting together all of her lineage for her family on this site. I hope her family appreciates all her hard work, because she has really done a lot to leave a very good history and to add many wonderful photos for her family’s future generations to know where they come from and see pictures of all of them. That’s a lot of work to scan photos, email them, gather names and dates of family members and then work out each of their respective genealogies.

We worked together again today (Sunday) until I quit on her..haha or LOL as the puter geeks put it. She wanted to work some more, but I just bombed out on her and had to take a long break.

Anyhow, Hazel, if you get time again, please don’t hesitate to let me know and I will try to keep up with you if I can. You’re really special! Oh, and by the way, Hazel and I both get very excited when we hear from our cousins and friends in the guestbook and in any of the forums and we read each and every one of them with much appreciation. We hope you continue to leave messages and notes for us and email us, too. We always love to hear from everyone. It’s a great pleasure to know we have so many people interested and participating on the website. It’s just greatest of fun.

Your Cuz,
Annette

Hi Everyone,

I’m sorry to tell you that the Photo Gallery and the yeapotter.com website has been hacked and is no longer available. I am currently saving all the albums from that site to disk and hope to present them on this website as soon as I can. I will try to get to it right away, but it will take time to set up here on this site. It’s a real shame when we can’t keep our Gallery going because of someone who is so mean they want to destroy a family’s photos and other memories. I just think that the person who did that is of very bad character and really needs some serious psychological help.

Hi Everyone,

The problem with the startlogic servers seems to be resolved. The website there and the photo gallery have been intermittently working. At this time, I have checked the links to the Gallery and the yeapotter.com website and all seems to be well. Let’s hope it stays that way. I am exercising caution for a while in case it isn’t a permanent fix. I did download the entire Gallery to the computer in case we run into this problem again and I’m going to work on having a stand by or back up photo gallery we can use if we run into that problem again in the future. It will take some time to create a new gallery, but I will eventually have it completed in the not too distant future. Thanks to everyone for your patience.
