Hello, Sis. I was visiting the website while at work and a guy I was working with was really impressed with what you have done. I was really really impressed as well, since I remembered where and how it all started. Congratulations on the new stuff! I was really pleased to see the new way some of the pictures were displayed. I have been reading the account of ‘Devil’ John again and my co-worker found that quite interesting as well. It was really good to see Mother’s and Marty’s and Trent’s pictures. I saw quite a few that I don’t think I have ever seen.
You should be really proud of your accomplishments, since 99.9% of it was self-taught.
Love,
Brother Dave

Hi David and Kaie,
Thank you David, for your post to the feedback page and to the guestbook. It’s great to know you like what I’ve done. It means a lot to me. Devil John Wright was quite a character. He is one of many I enjoy researching.
Thanks to you, Judy, Kaie and Billie I have scanned a lot of wonderful photos and hope to scan many more as time allows. Kaie and Judy keep bringing me their wonderful photos to scan and add to the site. They have so many, we may never get them all scanned, but we are going to try. I’m a little bit behind in my scanning right now. I have a lot of photos brought to me by Judy that I haven’t even begun to scan yet. I hope to get started scanning them soon.
To Kaie: I think I may have moved your favorite video to another page on the website. I found one of a dulcimer player that I thought was good and put it on the front page. The one of Jean Ritchie and Seeger is now on the following page: Interesting Videos On that page, there are more videos that I thought were interesting. I hope you enjoy them, as well.
I sure do love hearing from you both,
Your Sis and Sis-in-law,
Annette

good morning! just wanted to tell you that the site is so exciting! I love that people are adding their families, etc. Oh, wanted to tell you that Jinaquin tried out for the Rockets today in Chicago. I have not heard from her. I think it is so great that my grandchildren are trying so many things. They may not make it but they get the fun and experience of trying something.
love ya, kaie

Hi Kaie and Everyone,
Just got a call from Hazel Potter Thompson and Bert Thompson who are in Letcher County Kentucky right now (23 May 2008) in the area close to Whitesburg, Letcher Co KY for our upcoming Potter and Related Families Reunion which takes place tomorrow 24 June, 2008 in Hemphill, Letcher Co KY.
Hazel and Bert are with Anne Holbrook Meador and husband, Allen Meador, Ernie Collier s/o Monroe Collier and Kletis Kiser, as well as all the other families and friends who have gone there to attend the reunion tomorrow. They are cruising around enjoying the many sites and sounds of our beautriful Kentucky mountains, visiting the historical sites, enjoying the wonderful country food and drink, wonderful, warm, friendly folks, the fresh mountain air and looking for old cemeteries and other great things for our genealogy research. Anne Holbrook Meador and Hazel, our cousins, says that they have visited several cemeteries and have taken photos of headstones and that Hazel will scan and send some of the photos to me (Annette Potter) to put on the website in the Photo Gallery.
Hazel has visited the Reynolds Family Cemetery in Seco, Letcher Co KY and has taken photos of my (“my” is Annette Potter d/o Creed Flannery Potter and Ida Fuller) dad’s grave and our Grannie’s (Eliza Frances Reynolds Potter Davis d/o William Henry Reynolds and Frances Matilda Baker) grave which are right next to each other. Can’t wait to see the great photos and add them to the site!
Anne Holbrook Meador is there looking for some of her brick wall people that have been hard to trace as well as visiting family and friends and attending the Potter and Related Families Reunion in Hemphill, Letcher Co KY and Hazel says that Anne has received some very good leads from some of the other family in the area.
I lood forward to hearing from Hazel and all again soon and as soon as I hear from them, I will post any new info here. Just like to wish all those who were so fortunate to get to go to the reunion a very happy time and a safe and very pleasant journey there and back home!
Blessings to All,
Annette

hi annette,
wow! i wanted to make this reunion. is it always in may? i will drag you and clark next year, even if i have to hog tie the both of you. you know you love kentucky and the people. you know you love genealogy…soooooooo, you and clark must return.
thank you hazel for going up seco way. you have to love the people and the mountains. it is a great place to be.
annette, carlene, jake, clark and i went to the veterans cemetery today for the ceremony. it was so good. they had the riderless horse, the jet fly over, the helicopter fly over, amazing grace bagpipes, muskets, 3 texas cannons and soldiers from all the wars, except ww1. there is only one living and i don’t think he is from TEXAS! anyhow, we put flowers and flags on jmart potter’s grave, uncle goree barnhill’s, and ralph and bobby camery’s. what a day. it was exciting and spiritual. it was good to honor all those brave men and women. carlene is going to send you pictures.
love ya, kaie

Morning Ms. Annette,
Just wanted to say hi and to thank you for putting the few pictures of the Potter reunion that I sent to you that my niece Anna Lee took on your web site..
We had a great time as usual while we were in Letcher Co. Kentucky this year.. Bert and I met Anne and her husband Allen at the Parkway Inn Motel in Whitesburg and they are wonderful people.. like us just good ole Ky folks..
My cousin Ernie Collier, Anne and myself spend all day Thursday going to different cemeteries, some I had never been to..we had a great day..
The Potter reunion is always in May on the Saturday before Memorial Monday. from 12 noon until 4 p.m. and there is always a candle lite memorial for the coal miners later the same day at dust …
This year the Potter reunion was Saturday May 24th and later we lite the candles for the coal miners..I lit a candle for my dad and my brothers and your dad and also Ernie’s dad..
There was also a band playing country and blue grass music and they were very very good…
I had a great time and I hope everyone that came to the Potter reunion and the candle lighting in memory of the coal miners had a great day also…
Lords willing I hope to see everyone that was there this year back and lots more also next year.. can’t wait to see you and your family there next year also…
Ms. Annette have a great day and I will be talking to you later..
luv ya…
Just me… Hazel

Hi Kaie and Hazel,
Great to hear from you. I’m so planning to go to the Potter and Related Families Reunion at Hemphill, Letcher Co KY, this coming year in May, 2009, Kaie and Hazel. I hope we can all be there to meet everyone that has been contributing to this website! Hazel Potter Thompson and all of her precious sisters, Anne Holbrook Meador, Ernie Collier, Kaie and Clark Potter and all my (my is Annette Potter d/o Creed Flannery Potter and Ida Fuller) sisters and brothers, cousins and kin too numerous to mention, who send in photos, obits, and all kinds of wonderful stuff to keep us up to date. It really is a great pleasure to hear from each and every one of our family and friends who take part in preserving our history or who just stop by to say hello.
The candle light vigil is a great tribute to our coal miners who risk their lives and give their lives to get the coal that keeps this nation’s energy going. Coal is the source for 51% of our nation’s energy! Thank you so much, Hazel for thinking of my precious dad, Creed Flannery Potter. I appreciate that so much and it brought tears to my eyes to imagine you doing that for me. It meant a lot to me to know that you did that in my dad’s honor.
Our condolensces go out to the family of Lucy Potter, d/o McKinley and Dora Mullins Potter. It’s so difficult to say goodbye to loved ones. Our hearts go out to the family. Thank you, Hazel, for letting us know about this family’s loss. I’ll be adding Lucy Potter to the obituaries today. You are such a blessing, Hazel!
Kaie and Clark, Carlene and familly; thank you for remembering our brother, Marty Potter and our other Veterans this Memorial Day. Can’t wait to get the pictures and add them to the gallery. Love to you all,
Annette
