From my Mothers notes:
He was born in 1892. He worked on the railroad between Russellvelle and Dardanelle Arkansas. The engine he drove was used in the movie "The Return of Jessie James".
Later he married Callie Bookout and they had 4 children. They farmed in the Dardanelle area where he was shot and killed while hoeing cotton in a field near their house. His murderer was never caught.

I read your Rootsweb page called Maggard Clan Connection with much interest.
My Grandfather, John Lawley married Cynthia Maggard in Apr 1933 in Hector, Arkansas. John Lawley died 2 Jun 1935 near Russellville, Pope Co., Arkansas.My father, the late June Dee Lawley once told me Cynthia Maggard (his step-mother) had two children by a previous marriage. I think she was only married once before she married John Lawley, i.e. with Lattie O. Ferguson. Lattie and Cynthia are enumerated on the 1930 census at Arkansas, Pope Co., Illinois TWP, ED17, Sheet 22B. Their only child to that date was Mildred born about Jan/Feb 1929. Who was the other child? Since my father, June Dee Lawley was living with John and Cynthia at that time I think he is probably correct about the two children.
Your Maggard Clan Connection shows Cynthia MAGGARD and John LOLLEY as having two children: 1 female Living MAGGARD (who married a COLE?); and 2. male Living MAGGARD. These two must be the ones my father remembere
All of the Lawleys of my father's generation have passed on and there doesn't seem to be very much family info about Cynthia and her family. Anything you could share with me would be very much appreciated.

951. Loranzo (Dow) Boggs
Before he died, Loranza Dowell (Dow) Boggs requested permission from his first cousin, Monroe Boggs, to be buried on a hill overlooking Monroe's home place. Of course, Monroe let Dow be buried there as he
had requested. There is only one other grave located in that burying place, and that is the grave of Alex Milburn Boggs, son of Dow and Frankie.
Frances Elizabeth Brummitt Boggs was affectionately called "Aunt Frankie" by all the people who knew her, and that included almost everyone around Pound, Virginia and Jenkins, Kentucky. Aunt Frankie
was a petite woman and wore her dark hair parted in the middle and pulled into a bun at the back of her head. Her trademark was the string made of rather large beads which she always wore around her
neck. She loved to travel and visit and was a regular attendee at the Old Regular Baptist meetings.

James Madison always went by the name of Madison. Family stories handed down from generation to generation relate that Martha Boggs Mullins may have died from the physical abuse of Madison. One story is that many bruises could be seen on her body at her funeral. Madison is also believed to have murdered a man with a knife in Virginia and escaped to neighboring Kentucky to avoid prosecution. In the 1895 Wise County School Census Madison is reported living in the Roberson District with daughter, Caldona, age 6, enrolled in school. Madison spent his last years in Jenkins, Kentucky where he and many of his children and descendants lived in Dairy Hollow, the site of the old coal company dairy farm and later the golf course.
