Verna “Loretta” Holmes, 63, of Cleveland, NC, formerly of Wardell, died Oct. 22 at her home.
Born Aug. 26, 1944 in Wise, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Stella Mae Roberts Maggard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie J. Holmes, Sr.; and three brothers, Shirley Maggard, Dewey Maggard and Bill Maggard.
Survivors: sons, Jessee Holmes and wife, Lisa, of China Grove, NC, Lonnie Holmes, Jr. of Cleveland, NC; daughter, Vernie Robinson and husband, Jim, of Statesville, NC; sister, Edith Walk of Richlands; brother, Vencil Maggard of Richlands; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff with Rev. Tim Fluke officiating.
Burial followed in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
