Obituary: Brummett, Ted, age 86 of Jenkins, KY; husband of Leah (Johnson) Brummett, retired machine shop foreman of Beth Elkhorn Coal Corp., member of the First Baptist Church of Jenkins, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 31, 1992, at the Jenkins Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Henry Brummett and Mary Jane (Boggs) Brummett, born July 5, 1905 at Bold Camp of Wise County, VA. Survivors in addition to his wife are a son, Jack Brummett of Austin, TX; and four grandchildren: Don and Scott Brummett, Tamara Brown and Leah Parker; a sister Julia Jenny of Sheridan, WY.

Leonard Mann worked around the mines in Jenkins, Kentucky a few years after his marriage to Ida Brumit. Later they went into business for themselves. Leonard had a taxi service in Neon, Kentucky while Ida operated a beauty shop. They owned a restaurant in Grundy, Virginia and Ida subsequently operated a beauty shop in Bristol, Virginia. Later they built and operated the Plantation Court which was located on the highway between Abingdon and Bristol. Children of Ida Elvira Brummett and Leonard Mann;

Dewey worked at an automobile dealership in Pikeville, Kentucky for many years before becoming a successful owner in the business. He did some of the first research on the Henry Brumit family history and the pedigree chart which he compiled was a major part of the early background used to develop Brummett and Boggs genealogy.

Russell Howard Mann served in the U. S. Army 4th Division in Europe during World War II. His wife, Mary Martin Mann, served as a Lieutenant, U. S. Army Nurse Corps, in World War II while assigned to the 165th General Hospital in Europe. Mary retired a few years ago from the Veteran Affairs Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Howard was involved in several business ventures after the war and later worked for many years for Waylon Jennings and Jessie Colter in Nashville, Tennessee. Mary was the nurse and godmother of Shooter, the son of Waylon and Jessie. Howard's body was cremated and his ashes were scattered in his favorite trout stream in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Mary Mann lives at 117 Lancaster Drive, Franklin, Tennessee 37064.

Ruth was a petite lady and is remembered for her dry wit and candid comments. She worked many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Charles Hicks attended high school in Fleming, Kentucky and Bowling Green College, Bowling Green, Kentucky. While playing football at Bowling Green College he sustained an injury which resulted in a slight disability in his left hip for the remainder of his life. Charles held a high-level position as Secretary of the national United Mine Workers of America labor union. Elmer Hensley was a truck driver.
