William J. "Willie" Caudill, b February 21, 1880; d December 21, 1944 Louisville, KY at the home of his son, Larry Caudill, and is buried in the family cemetery in Blackey, Letcher County, KY; s/o William J "Miller Bill" Caudill and Martha Ann Whitaker. William J. "Willie" Caudill m. Hettie Cornett b about 1880 Perry Co KY d/o Archibald Cornett and Martha Combs. William J. "Willie" Caudill was a retired contractor and builder; he spent many years in the lumber and building business. He had been an active member of the Doermann Memorial Presbyterian Church at Blackey for many years. Children of William J. "Willie" Caudill and Hettie Cornett:

i. Dr. Fred Weldon Caudill, born March 18, 1900 in Blackey, Letcher County, KY; died January 10, 1947. He married (1) Minelle Pulson; born Abt. 1907; died August 10, 1928 Letcher County, KY during the childbirth of Fred, Caudill Jr. He married (2) Edna F. Snyder

ii. Lawrence J. "Larry" Caudill, b August 13, 1901 Blackey, Letcher County, KY; d September 07, 1966 m. (1) Mary Irma Copeland; b October 31, 1902; He married (2) Opal Banks. Lawrence J "Larry" Caudill attended Stuart Robinson High School and Centre College. He was a journalist and newspaperman in Louisville, KY.

iii. Arch Caudill, born May 07, 1905; died June 02, 1965.

Obituary: Lucretia Marie Caudill Rogers
Lucretia Marie Caudill Rogers, 94, of Hazard departed this life on Sunday, March 2. She was born on November 6, 1913, to the late William and Hettie Caudill of Blackey. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clayton Rogers and her son, James Thomas Rogers. Mrs. Rogers is survived by her son, Leslie Harrison and wife Audrey; her daughter-in-law Paula and her sister, Harriett Combs, all residents of Hazard. She is survived by six grandchildren, Keenan and wife Dionna of Hazard, James Leslie and wife Donna of New Albany, Indiana, Leslie Craig and wife Jamey of Lexington, Ginger and husband Eric of Jamestown, Christopher of New Albany, Indiana and Nea and husband Nicholas of Frankfort. Her surviving eleven great-grandchildren are Brenda, Sydney, Rudy, Garrett, Gavin, Abigail, Isabelle, Molly Caroline, Gave, Griffin and Grayson. Her two great-great-grandchildren are Tristan and Sebastian. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews along with special friends David P., David R. John, Billie, Lori, Orbie, Eddie, Susie, Laura and Etta Rose. Mrs. Rogers attended Kentucky College for Women, now a part of Centre College, Oglethorpe University and Georgetown College. She worked for over fifty years as a teacher and social worker. She was a faithful member of Hazard’s First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at Hazard’s First Presbyterian Church at 11:00 AM this morning, Wednesday, March 5, 2008 until the funeral hour at 1:00 PM, which will be officiated by Pastor Ellen Peach. Interment will be at the Resthaven Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the ARH Foundation, 100 Airport Gardens Road, Hazard, KY 41701, and the First Presbyterian Church, 160 Broadway, Hazard, KY 41701. All arrangements have been entrusted to the staff at Maggard’s Mountain View Chapel.

Lucretia Marie Caudill Rogers, 94, of Hazard, KY, died March 2, 2008. A daughter of the late William and Hettie Caudill of Blackey, KY, she was married to the late James Clayton Rogers. She was the mother of the late James Thomas Rogers. Mrs. Rogers attended Kentucky College for Women (Centre College), Oglethorpe University, and later Georgetown College. She worked for more than 50 years as a teacher and a social worker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hazard, Hazard KY. She is survived by a son, Leslie Harrison and wife Audrey, Hazard, KY; a daughter-inlaw, Paula, Hazard, KY; a sister, Harriett Combs, Hazard, KY; six grandchildren, Keenan and wife Dionna, Hazard, KY; James Leslie and wife Donna, New Albany, Ind.; Leslie Craig and wife Jamey, Lexington, KY; Ginger and husband Eric, Jamestown, KY; Christopher, New Albany, Ind.; and Nea and husband Nicholas, Frankfort, KY; 11 great-grandchildren, Brenda, Sydney, Rudy, Garrett, Gavin, Abigail, Isabelle, Molly Caroline, Gabe, Griffin, and Grayson; and two great-great-grandchildren, Tristan and Sebastian. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday), March 5, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church of Hazard, Hazard, KY. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
