OBITUARY OF HERBERT "HERBIE" WAYNE FLEMING
Herbert "Herbie" Wayne Fleming, son of Willard and Barbara Molner Fleming was born at Whitesburg, Kentucky, on December 6, 1960. He passed from this life on Friday, January 21, 2000, making his stay here on earth 39 years, 1 month and 19 days.

Herbie, as everyone knew him, was taken from us in a tragic accident at Payne Gap, near Fish Pond Lake. He was on the job, making his rounds to help others. Herbie was a former graduate of Fleming-Neon High School where he excelled in sports, being captain of both football and basketball teams.

Herbie worked in the coal fields for about 12 years and earned his mine foreman papers but decided to make a career change after a mining incident and became a certified nurse's aide. Herbie has worked for Home Health for the past 9 years and helped brighten many lives during that time. He cared for others better than he cared for himself.

Herbie has been a member of the Hemphill Church of Christ for over 18 years. He helped in all phases of the church by leading the choir, ministering to others and preaching if the occasion required it. He was also a member of the Kentucky Athletics Association, United Steel Workers of America and Amway.

He was a licensed referee and found time to referee many football, baseball, softball and basketball games. Herbie loved to help kids. He was the former coach of the Jenkins girls softball team; a former coach of the Fleming-Neon grade school football team and at present the weight lifting coach at Fleming-Neon.
