FOUR KILLED BY POWDER
Four people were buried Tuesday of this week on Dry Creek in Rowan County, about ten miles from Morehead, as a result, it is said, of pranking with two kegs of blasting powder, which was in the home. Sylvester DeBord home was the scene , which was destroyed by fire after the explosion.
Miss Lizzie DeBord, 22 years old, daughter of Sylvester Debord, and her brother Jesse DeBord, died Sunday in the hospital in Lexington, where they had been taken for treatment. They were injured by the powder explosion, which killed Luther Hamilton, age 2 (sic) and his 18 month old daughter, Anna Lee. Hamiltonhad gone to the home tosee his daughter, whom he had hired the DeBord family to keep, after he and his wife had separated.
Members leaving a lodge nearby heard the blast and ran to the DeBord home, which burst into flames. With a pole, the DeBord girl was removed from the flames. Fragments of the bodies were found after the building had burned down, and they were all buried in the home cemetery Tuesday. Sylvester DeBord, escaped uninjured, but was dazed and found in the back yard.
