She was born April 1, 1934, in Beaver, the daughter of the late Riley Newsome and Ettie Newsome. Survivors include three sons, Willie Hall of Ligon, Randy Eugene Pegrem of West Virginia, and Melvin Adams Jr. of McDowell; three daughters, Geneva Pegrem of Ligon, Nora Lou Hall of Galveston, and Betty Lou Slone of Wheelwright; six step-children; one brother, Riley Newsome Jr. of Price; seven grandchildren, Lou Tackett, Josh Slone, Char Adams, Areil Adams, Stephanie Slone, Dokota Adams and Jessica Slone. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Milford Newsome; and two sisters, Elvie Hall and Rosie Henson. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 31, at 11 a.m., at the Samaria Regular Baptist Church, in Teaberry, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Draxie Mae Reynolds, 94, of Virgie, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pike County, Dec. 18, 1915, the daughter of the late Floyd and Holda Jane Newsome.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Caney Creek Old Regular Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by one son, Homer Reynolds; four daughters, Nadine Bowling, Maggie Damron, Maxine Hamilton, Dicy Newsome; seven grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Pom Reynolds of Harold and James Reynolds of Virgie; two daughters, Oma Faye Hamilton of Marshall, Mich., and Joyce McCoy of Indian Creek of Virgie; one brother, Wade Newsome of New York; one sister, Susie Jennings of Pennsylvania; 30 grandchildren, and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, in the Caney Creek Old Regular Baptist Church with Kermit Wright, Anthony Newsome, Squire Hamilton, Tony Bentley, Mike Justice, Teddy Honaker, Arnold Belcher and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsom Branch Cemetery, Penny Road. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Special services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

Hamilton Frank (Jim) Age 52. Passed away yesterday afternoon following an accident at work. He was born April 24, 1917 in Grethel, Kentucky the son of Basil and Grace Blanton Hamilton. He married Gertie Hall Nov. 14, 1941 in Kentucky and she survives. Mr. Hamilton was a sheet metal worker and was employed with the R. C. Malone Company. He was a veteran of World War 11; a member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 835 of Wayne, Mich., a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. Mr. Hamilton had lived in the Ypsilanti Community for the last 18 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Mrs. Grace Hamilton of Martin, Kentucky; four sons, Larry of Dundee, Eugene of Fort Custer, Mich., Danny and Gary Lee both at home; four daughters, Mrs. Patricia Elkins of Ypsilanti, Mrs. Gracie Parker of Ypsilanti, Brenda Kay Hamilton and Shirley Ann Hamilton both at home; two brothers, Jake of Inkster, Mich., and Billie E. of Westland; seven sisters, Mrs. Wanda Lee Charles of Zublan, Kentucky Mrs. Hazel Sexton of Warren, Mich., Mrs. Bessie Elliott of E. McDowell, Kentucky, Mrs. Tessie Hall of E. McDowell, Kentucky, Mrs. Edith, Spurlock of Oak hill, Ohio, Mrs. Arcolas Allen of Ann Arbor, Mi. Mrs. Ruth Porter of Westland, Mi. and five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. from the funeral home with the Elder Homer Elliott officiating. Further services will be held Friday Nov. 29 at the Old Regular Baptist Church, Denton Rd. north of Michigan Ave. begining at 12 noon. Elder Homer Elliott, Elder Karrel Addington and Elder Covis Tackett will officiate. Burial will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor. Mrs. Hamilton attended the Old Regular Baptist Church, Denton, volunteered at Christian Horizons Corner Stone Center and was a member of W.A.R-C. Survivors include eight children, Patricia Elkins of Ann Arbor, Larry (Marlene) Hamilton of Ypsilanti, Gracie (Larry) Ratliff of Mecosta, MI, Danny (Valerie) Hamilton of Lakeland, MI, Donald E. Hamilton of Southgate MI, Brenda K. Hamilton of Ypsilanti, Gary L. (Belinda) Hamilton of Tecumseh, MI and Shirley (Clive) Smolana of Nova Sotia, Canada; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers; two sisters and many other relatives. She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister. There will be a Prayer Service 7:00 P.M. Thursday. The funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, at Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park.
