Namon Akers
Age 88, of Banner, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Riverview Manor Nursing Home, following an extended illness. Born on March 11, 1911, in
Floyd County, he was the son of the late Amos Akers and Minnie Clifton Akers Smith. He was a disabled coal miner. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Carol Boyd of Banner, Patricia Ann McGuire of Prestonsburg, Jeanette Jean Akers of Prestonsburg; six brothers, Burnis Akers and Leonard Akers, both of J3anner, Woodrow Akers of Buffalo Creek, West Virginia, James Akers of Dana, Charlie Akers, Detroit, Michigan, Lee
Akers of Ashland, Ohio; two sisters, Annie Howell of Dana, Josephine Akers of Ashland, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 3, at noon, at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home at Martin, with Woody Crum assisting in the ceremony.
Burial will be in the Burnis Akers Cemetery at Banner.
