She was preceded in death by her husband, Cobbie Rogers. in 1984. Survivors include five sons. K. C. Rogers, Jimmy Rogers, Billy Joe Rogers, and Bobby Rogers. all of Harold, and James E. Rogers of Pikeville; six daughters, Thelma Sword of Pikeville, Goldie Baker. Mary Lou Robs. HAMILTON, Raymond Age, 82, of Grethel, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, following an extended illness. Born May 25, 1920, in Teaberry, he was the son of the late John and Betty Hall Hamilton. He was a disabled coal miner. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rhoda Tackett Hamilton and by his second wife, Flora Tackett Hamilton. Survivors include three sons, Butler Hamilton, and Andy Hamilton, both of Grethel, and Tivis Hamilton of Stanville; two daughters, Betty Hamilton of Bellevue, Ohio, and Bonnie Akers of Galveston; one sister, Lilly Slush of Pikeville; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Charlie Hamilton, Wilburn Hamilton, Garfield Hamilton, Butler Hamilton, and Emmitt Hamilton; three sisters, Margaret Smith, Polly Frasure, and Della Hamilton; four grandchildren, Corina Tackett, Tivis Jr. Hamilton, Glenda Hamilton, and James Hamilton. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 30, at 1 p.m., at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Frank Hamilton Cemetery, Teaberry, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home. Visitation was at the funeral home. Active pallbearers: Jonathan Hamilton, Jesse Hamilton, Woody Hamilton, (B.J.) Butler Jr. Hamilton, and Stacy Akers. (FCT'S)
2797. Evan Dewey Adkins
In loving memory of a dear husband and father, Evan Dewey Adkins. He was born November 3, 1924 and passed away March 21, 1996, making his stay on earth 71 years, 4 months, and 18 days. He was born at Galveston, Ky. to the late Willie and Nancy Jane Akers Adkins. He was a retired coal miner and construction worker. He was a World War II veteran and received the American Theater, EAME Theater with four Bronze stars-good conduct and victory medal while serving his country. He joined the Pilgrim's Home Old Regular Baptist Church at Grethel. He was never baptized because of his illness. He loved to hear the Regular Baptist Ministers preach and sing. His favorite song was, "Gone Away With A Friend. " On March 1, 1946, he married Goldie Evans Adkins. We spent fifty happy years together and were as close as two people could be. We have eight children, Girdell, George, Phillip Dale, Earl, Clara Lou, Michael, Mary Ann, and Patty Sue. He was a loving father and was always there when his children needed him. He always enjoyed sitting on the porch and visiting with family and friends. He never met a stranger. When he got sick his neighbors, friends, and church members all visited every chance they got. His family was always so good about staying with him. The family always made sure someone was with him at all times. He was well-liked by all who knew him. Besides his wife and children, he leaves 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, one brother, Lee Adkins of Napponee, Indiana, two sisters, Minnie Rogers of Harold, Ky., and Melba Macabee of Michigan, and a host of family and friends to mourn his passing. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Daddy we all love and miss you so much.
