Born August 19, 1926, in Dony, she was the daughter of the late Hayes Vance and Laura Osborne Vance. She was retired from Square D, and was a former member of Gospel Community Church, Huntington, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin Tackett, on January 7, 1983. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Keith (Freda) Hamilton of Warsaw, Indiana; two sons, Freddie Tackett of Huntington, Indiana and Ted W. Tackett of Warsaw, Indiana; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons and six brothers. Funeral services were conducted at the Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, with Rev. Rodney Rudd and Rev. Worlie Newsome officiating. She was born April 5, 1921 in Floyd County, KY, the daughter of the late Andy Lee and Haley (Bentley) Hall. On November 14, 1941 she married Frank (Jim) Hamilton in Paintsville, KY and he preceded her in death November 25, 1968. Mrs. Hamilton attended the Old Regular Baptist Church, Denton, volunteered at Christian Horizons Corner Stone Center and was a member of W.A.R-C. Survivors include eight children, Patricia Elkins of Ann Arbor, Larry (Marlene) Hamilton of Ypsilanti, Gracie (Larry) Ratliff of Mecosta, MI, Danny (Valerie) Hamilton of Lakeland, MI, Donald E. Hamilton of Southgate MI, Brenda K. Hamilton of Ypsilanti, Gary L. (Belinda) Hamilton of Tecumseh, MI and Shirley (Clive) Smolana of Nova Sotia, Canada; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers; two sisters and many other relatives. She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister. There will be a Prayer Service 7:00 P.M. Thursday. The funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, at Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Hamilton may be made to Christian Ho rizons Corner Stone Center, 1800 Packard Rd., Ypsilanti, MI 48197 or at the funeral home, where friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. Hamilton Frank (Jim) Age 52. Passed away yesterday afternoon following an accident at work. He was born April 24, 1917 in Grethel, Kentucky the son of Basil and Grace Blanton Hamilton. He married Gertie Hall Nov. 14, 1941 in Kentucky and she survives. Mr. Hamilton was a sheet metal worker and was employed with the R. C. Malone Company. He was a veteran of World War 11; a member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 835 of Wayne, Mich., a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. Mr. Hamilton had lived in the Ypsilanti Community for the last 18 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Mrs. Grace Hamilton of Martin, Kentucky; four sons, Larry of Dundee, Eugene of Fort Custer, Mich., Danny and Gary Lee both at home; four daughters, Mrs. Patricia Elkins of Ypsilanti, Mrs. Gracie Parker of Ypsilanti, Brenda Kay Hamilton and Shirley Ann Hamilton both at home; two brothers, Jake of Inkster, Mich., and Billie E. of Westland; seven sisters, Mrs. Wanda Lee Charles of Zublan, Kentucky Mrs. Hazel Sexton of Warren, Mich., Mrs. Bessie Elliott of E. McDowell, Kentucky, Mrs. Tessie Hall of E. McDowell, Kentucky, Mrs. Edith, Spurlock of Oak hill, Ohio, Mrs. Arcolas Allen of Ann Arbor, Mi. Mrs. Ruth Porter of Westland, Mi. and five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. from the funeral home with the Elder Homer Elliott officiating. Further services will be held Friday Nov. 29 at the Old Regular Baptist Church, Denton Rd. north of Michigan Ave. begining at 12 noon. Elder Homer Elliott, Elder Karrel Addington and Elder Covis Tackett will officiate. Burial will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor. On January 11, 1905 a daughter was born to the family of Harrison and Jenny Bentley Hamilton at McDowell, KY. In this loving family with very few possessions were her three sisters: Fannie, Renie, and Cecelia; and three brothers: Oscar, Charlie, and Roby. In 1924 she fell in love and married Emitt Hamilton, Sr. Unto this union were born four children: Verbal, Virgil (Bud), Bernice, and Emitt Jr. Emitt Sr. preceded her in death in 1952. She leaves four children, one sister, Cecelia (whom she loved very much), ten grandchildren (one grandson, Don Prater, preceded her in death), 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. In 1934 our mother gave her life to the Lord and was baptized in the waters of Big Mud Creek in front of the house where she lived. She took her membership to the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church at Teaberry. Years later she took her membership to Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church at McDowell where she remained a member until her death on January 1, 1996. She was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church for 62 years. Our mother gave her family love, wisdom, and strength. The problems of her family were never too small or too great for her to solve. After our dad died in 1952, our mother married Andy J. Mitchell. She remained with him until his death. They enjoyed going many places to church. In 1970, she married H. B. Flack. They were members of Little Rosa Regular Baptist Church. He preceded her in death in 1991. Our mother gave us love in so many ways. Her departing will leave a great void in our lives that can never be filled in this life but will be renewed in the afterlife where we will see her and have a never-ending grand reunion.
