316. Craig Hamilton

Tradition has it that Craig, along with Henderson Hall, was captured bythe 10th Kentucky Mounted Rifles (CSA) after a brief skirmish at the headof Mud Creek in Floyd County. Craig didn't remain a prisoner for long,for he escaped from his captors and soon returned to duty with the 39thKentucky. Henderson was later released and also returned to duty.
After the Civil War, Craig was appointed Constable for District 5 inFloyd County. He was sworn in on December 1879. Craig died on April 22,1901 and Sally died on September 8, 1907. Both were buried in theHamilton Cemetery on Branham Creek.
