Hall. He marr. Mary Jane Hall in 1876. She was the d/o Lewis & Rhoda
Hall. Henry & Mary had 12 children, 8 boys and 5 girls with 3 boys and
his wife preceding him in death; 6 children belong to the Reg. Baptist
Church; Henry joined the Joppa Church [at Melvin, Floyd Co., KY] in May
1889 and began preaching 16 Jan 1891. He served as Moderator for about

It is with much sadness that I try to write an obituary o f a dearbrother in the Lord. Thomas Hall, better known a s "Scorcher", the son ofElder Henry Hall was born April 16 , 1882 and departed this life August20, 1964, making his s tay here 82 years, 4 months and 4 days. He joinedthe Jopp a Church of Old Regular Baptist the first Saturday in May ,1900. He was baptized by his father Elder Henry Hall. H e was or-dainedas a Ye-a c o n of the Joppa Church in th e year of 1928 and servedfaithfully un-til death. He was m arried to Dallah Osborn, November 12,1903 and to this unio n no children were born. After the death of hisfirst wif e July 26, 1959, he was married to Dorothy Pres-ton, and t othis union no chil-dren were born. The Joppa Church has l ost its oldestmember and he will l)e sadly missed. He lef t to mourn his passing, hiswidow, I)orothy, three brothers , and two sisters, names being: ElderJerry Hall, Brack Hal l, McClellen Hall, Nancy Mullins, Rhodina Mullins.Also t o mourn him are 9 step-children, 23 step-grandchildren, an d ahost of relatives and friends. We feel sure that our lo ss is Heaven'sgain. To the step-children, you have los t a wonderful step-father, thecommun-ity of Melvin and aro und have lost a good neighbor and citizen,and the Old Jopp a Church lost a faithful member. Brother "Scorcher" isno w resting from his labors and waiting for his body to be ra nsomedfrom the grave so that he may go to that Home of Man y Mansions eternallyin the skies.
