Obituary of Edith Hammonds Ison: Edith Ison died October 17, 2007 at her home at Isom, KY. She was 99 years old. A daughter of the late Jack and Belle Profitt Hammond, she was the widow of Corbin Ison. She was preceded in death by a friend, Bertie Skyles. Mrs. Ison was a retired schoolteacher, who taught 30 years in Letcher County and 14 years in Eustis. She was active in the Isom Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Aerolene Cox and husband Bill, Auburntown, Tenn., and Neucedia Miller and husband Wink, Isom, KY; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and friends, Phyllis Asher, Jackie Moore, Maude Sumner, Melinda Baker, and Pat Hampton. Funeral services were held October 19, 2007 at the Isom Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Isom Cemetery, Isom, KY. Letcher Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
