Obituary of Franklin ( F.C.) Hammons: November, 07, 1935 - June, 06, 2007. Franklin C. Hammons - November 07, 1935 - June 06, 2007. Franklin C. Hammons, 71, of Griffa Avenue died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Born in Whitesburg, Ky., Nov. 7, 1935, Mr. Hammons was the son of Corbett and Elsie Hall Hammons.

Mr. Hammons graduated from Whitesburg High School in 1954. He married Sandra Stiles in 1961.

He coached Bantam league football in Edinburgh and Taylorsville and was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky basketball program. Mr. Hammons retired in 1995 from Reliance Electric. He was a member of Old Union United Church of Christ and Kentucky Club of Southern Indiana.

He was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, volunteered at Agency on Aging and Columbus Regional Hospital. Survivors include his wife; children, Ed (Dawn) Hammons of Lexington, Ky., Ann Hammons of Lafayette and Will (Amy) Hammons of Columbus, In.; grandchildren, Corbett, Lydia and Luke Hammons; and sisters, Inez Underwood of Nicholasville, Ky., and Yvonne Hammock of Whitesburg, Ky.

Funeral Information: VISITATION: Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday; June 8, 2007 at the Jewell - Rittman Family Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kirby Rupp officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ross Wallace.

BURIAL: Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery. The Hammons family will have a gathering for friends and family at their home following the funeral dinner. Donations Information: Memorial contributions may be made to Taylorsville Bantam Football League, Love Chapel Food Pantry or Hospice of South Central Indiana. Funeral Information: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday June 8, 2007 - 10 a.m. Saturday, Old Union Cemetery
