Obituary Thelma P. Abdon, 75 of Troy OH, died Thursday, July 29th, 1999 at Harborside Healthcare Center, Troy. Survived by husband, Glenn Abdon, three sons, Billie of Troy, Roger of El Paso TX, & Charles of Nashville, a daughter, Mrs Hollis (Betty) Martin of Troy, three brothers, Ishmael of Troy, Bennie of Tipp City, and Cecil of South Bay FL, nine grand children and nine gr grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents , Cuge and Nancy (Evans) Bentley; two sisters, Edna Collett, and Phyllis Hughes, and two brothers Homer and Virgil Bentley. Mrs Abdon ws born Aug. 26, 1923, in Greenup KY. She was a member of First Baptist Church of New Carlisle OH and Campers on a Mission. She was a seamstress with Atlas Underwear for many years. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Mondy at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Pastor Rick Shoemaker officiating. Burial will be in Miami Memorial Park, Covington OH.

Obituary Hillard Paul Holbrook, 82, of Greenup, Ky., died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. Mr. Holbrook was born July 12, 1921, in Lynn, Ky., a son of the late Richard Quillen and Nancy Isabelle Bentley Holbrook. He was retired from Lawson's Hardware in Greenup after 45 years, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, was a member and deacon at Load Christian Baptist Church, was a former member of the Greenup Volunteer Fire Department, and was a former member of the Wurtland Volunteer Fire Department Board of Trustees. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Dean Spears, in 1989. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Brown Holbrook; three daughters, Norma Baker of Flatwoods, Ky., Alice Brown of Lloyd, Ky., and Joan Pelfrey of Stanton, Ky.; one sister, Viola Cremeans of Troy, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Leonard McGlone and Brother Henderson Morris. Burial will be in Quillen Cemetery in Lynn, Ky. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight and one hour before the service Friday at the funeral home.

Obituary Viola "Nanny" Cremeans, age 84, of Troy, OH died Friday, April 25, 2008 at 11:02AM. at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was born January 10, 1924 in Greenup, Kentucky to the late Richard Q. Holbrook and Nancy (Bentley) Holbrook. She was married to Elmer Cremeans who preceded her in death along with daughters, Betty Evans and Sharon Cremeans; grandson, Adam Evans; great grandchild, Benjamin Gray & four brothers and five sisters. She is survived by her three sons & daughters-in-Law, Leon Cremeans of Tipp City, Ohio, Danny (Marsha) Cremeans of Troy, and Dennis Mark (Laura) Cremeans of Troy, OH, two daughters & son-in-law, Phyllis (Jack) Vanover and Lois Cremeans all of Troy, OH; eighteen grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. Nanny was homemaker all of her life and her joy was taking care of her children, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and neighborhood children. Service will be held 10:30AM Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH with Pastor Jeff Seekins officiating and interment in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, OH. Obituary Harlen Braden, 84, of Greenup County, died Wednesday in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. Mr. Braden was born Aug. 5, 1911, at Worthington, a son of the late Hesbert and Bertha Boyles Braden. His wife, Laura Kimblton Braden, died in 1981. Surviving are three sons; Wendell Braden of Argillite, Roger Braden of Chesapeake, Ohio and Lewis Braden of South Shore; two daughters, Dottie Harrington of Mansfield, Ohio and Dania Barnes of Chipley, Fla.; two brothers, Elmer Braden of Lynn and Billy Braden of Greenup; a sister, Lucille Collier of Lloyd; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by the Rev. Henderson Morris. Burial will be in Boyles Cemetery, Hoods Run, Greenup Co KY.

Obituary Susan Rivers: Leander Woman Dies Wednesday. Services Held Friday For Mrs. Susan Rivers. Mrs. Susan May Rivers, 73, died Wednesday, June 6,at the home of her son Herbert May, Leander, following an illness of several weeks. Born May 7, 1883, in Letcher County, she was the daughter of the late Woodford and Nancy Quillen Holbrook. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to Tom May, who preceded her in death, and later married George Rivers, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Herbert May, Leander, George Rivers, Jr., and James H Rivers, both of Leander, two daughters, Mrs. Noah Spradlin, Denver, Ky., and Mrs. Estill Blair, Alvado, Ohio, and one sister, Mrs. Katherine Hannah, Greenup. Funeral services were held Friday morning at the home with Millard Bryant and Etral Baldwin as officiating ministers. Burial was made in the family cemetery under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home. Paintsville Herald Wednesday 6-13-1956
