Lucy Austin lived in Laurel Springs, Ashe Co NC until 1865. In that
year, with two wagons filled with household necessities and Lucy on
horseback with little Daniel in her lap, they took the long hard 30
day trip to their new home on Dry Creek, Pike Co KY.
Elisha Johnson was a horse trader who sold horses in
NC. He met Lucy Austin in Ashe Co NC. Elisha enlisted on 25 Oct 1861
in the 34th NC Infantry, Co A Confederate Army as a Private. A
couple of times he was reported missing, but later determined to
have been very ill. He was discharged in Jun 1862.
