OBITUARY OF BERTHA BENTLEY
Bertha Bentley, daughter of Robert and Nancy Melissa (Vanover) Johnson, was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on August 17, 1909. She passed from
this life at her residence at Jackhorn, Kentucky on October 1, 1998 making her stay here on tills earth 89 years, 1 month, and 14 days.
Bertha was a member of the Church of Christ for many years. She enjoyed spending her past time quilting, growing flowers, and caring for loved
ones. Bertha has bean in poor health for many years. In 1929, Bertha married Bill Bentley. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1962, To this union was born eight children. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, several brothers and sisters, one son Woody Bentley on June 10, 1989, and one daughter
Jacqueline Johnson on March 7, 1995.
Bertha Bentley leaves behind many loved ones to mourn her passing. She is survived by four sons: Carl, Herbert, Billy Joe, and Robert Lee Bentley
all of Jackhorn; two daughters: Gladys B. Johnson and Nellie L Fleming also of Jackhorn. Bertha also leaves behind Natasha Arnold, whom she
raised as her own daughter. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a large number of relatives and friends to mourn her
passing. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
