Winfield Scott Johnson. Winfield Scott Johnson, age 76, died after a week's illness of a heart condition at the Fleming Hospital at 4:30 p.m., June 8 (1955). Mr. Johnson was the son of Jep Johnson and Nancy Burke, Pike county, and had been residing at McRoberts, Ky., 45 years.
Surviving him are his wife, Dillie Little; sons, Arsley Johnson, Caney Creek, Ky.; Talmadge Johnson, Rosewell, N.M.; and daughters, Nellie Fleming, McRoberts; Myra Johnson, Ohio; Veja Mullins, Pike County, Ky.; Oma Tackett, Minnie , Ky.; Cora Belle Johnson, Fort Pierce, Fla. Funeral services were held at the residence in McRoberts, Ky., at 10:00 a.m. (ES), June 11 with Rev. C. B. Pass officiating. Burial took place in Johnson cemetery, with Craft Funeral Home, Neon, in charge.

By Jeremy Johnson, 26 Jan 2004: Winfield also had a son named Talmedge, I will find out his other siblings for you. My mother (Zella) was from his second marriage. Other children from his second marriage are Pandora, Phyllis, Deremia (I think that is she spells it) Arsley Jr., Ricky, and Gary who died during Vietnam. I don't know if you would have any information on this but I am a double Johnson. My father's name is Peter Johnson and they lived on Three Mile Creek. His grandfather was George Washington Johnson also known as Bad George or Red George. He worked as a deputy on many occassions and there are several tales of the men he killed. He was the arresting officer at the killing of Bad Sol Fleming. I will try and get the info on Winfield and Dill's other children by the end of this week. I hope you can help me with the other side of my family as well or at least can direct me to someone who can.
By Ellen Carper, 29 Jan 2004: Thanks Jeremy; I am going through tests and preparation for an arterial bypass surgery on February 23, and tire easily, but as I am able, will see if I can do more research for Peter Johnson. Can you tell me possibly his grandfather's name also. Being of recent birth, probably won't find a lot about Peter, unless some of the other members of the Organization may know. With the ancestor's reputation you mentioned, someone should have heard of him. Will get questions out to them concerning this. I only have one George Washington Johnson, so far, b. 1853, the s/o Elisha Johnson. Have 11 George and 3 George Franklin Johnsons, but no more information that would connect them there.
Will see what help I can be for you, if possible. Meanwhile, why not send any information direct to my e-mail, if it might be too large for here, that way if I'm unable to pick it up, my daughter may catch it for me, and I can try to handle it that way, or let you know. John Martin Johnson. John Johnson. Would like to get all information on George that I can. Thanks for any help you can provide. We are also having a hard time finding who the last John I mentioned parents might be.
