Victor "Vick" Potter, age 85, of Jackhorn,
Letcher County, Kentucky passed away,
early Sunday morning, November 25, 2007 at his home in Jackhorn,
Letcher County Kentucky.
Vick
was the son of the late
Clabe Potter and Braskie Hall
Potter. He was born April 27, 1922 in Letcher County Kentucky,
where he spent the majority of his life. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine
Workers of America, a United States Army Veteran WWII, and was
a member of the Neon Post of the American Legion, Neon,
Letcher County, Kentucky. He was also
a member of the Hemphill Church of Christ, Hemphill, Letcher
County, Kentucky.
Vick was preceded in death by his parents,
Clabe Potter and Braskie Hall Potter, a daughter, Louise Potter Newman, 2 grandsons,
Arvid Vincent "Sam" Newman and Brandon Andrew Newman and 3 brothers,
Perry
Potter,
Roy Potter and
Billy Ray "Buddy" Bunch.
Surviving family members include his wife of
66 years, Myrtle Strange Potter, daughter of the late
Robert Lee Strange
and Winnie Mullins, 4 daughters Vickie Potter of Jackhorn,
Letcher County, Kentucky, Betsy and
Charles Kraus of Schaumburg, Illinois, Patsy and Bill Watts of
Bean Station, Tennessee, Patricia Medlock of Fort Smith,
Arkansas, a son
and daughter in law, Paul and Bernice Potter of Jackhorn,
Letcher County Kentucky, 11 grandchildren,
8 great grandchildren, 6 sisters,
Opal Potter Fleming of Indiana,
Zella "Sis" Barnes of
Las Vegas, Nevada,
Georgia Fleming of Ohio,
Rheba
Arnold - Hines Tillman of Michigan,
Betty Dunford of Michigan and
Hazel Thompson of
Clinton Township, Michigan; and a host of relatives and friends to mourn
his loss.
Funeral services for Victor Potter took place on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the
Carty Funeral Home Chapel, Neon, Letcher County Kentucky,
followed by Interment in the Potter Family Cemetery, Jackhorn, Letcher County Kentucky.
Military Rites by Pound Virginia VFW. Funeral arrangements
provided by Carty Funeral Home, Fleming-Neon, Kentucky.
