Obituary of William "Glen" Potter
(November 30, 1926 - September 22, 2008)
William "Glen" Potter Jr. age 81, passed away Monday, September 22nd, 2008 at
the Whitesburg ARH Hospital. William was born on November 30th, 1926 to his
parents the late William Potter and Princess Ratliff Potter. William was the
husband of Janice Johnson Potter, a self employed gas station owner, and a
believer of the Freewill Baptist Faith. He also served his country in the U.S.
Army during World War II. Along with his parents, William was preceded in death
by one brother, Russell Potter, five sisters, Hazel Morris, Margie Adams,
Emogene Hardin, Magdalene Bates, and Lovely Looney. Along with his wife, William
is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Jane Polly of Cona, Ky., two sons, Steven
Glen Potter of Burdine, Ky., Danny Staton of Haymond, Ky., one brother, Florine
Ratliff of Elkhorn Creek, Ky., two sisters, Daisy Bridges of Roanoke, Va, Bill
Potter of North Carolina, three grandchildren, and a host of loving family and
friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Burdine Freewill Baptist
church. The funeral will be Thursday 9-25-2008 at 1p.m. at the Burdine Freewill
Baptist Church with Benny McCall officiating. Burial will follow in the Levi
Potter Cemetery at Burdine.

Obituary Hattie Bumgardner,
97, of Kingsport, Tenn., formerly of Burdine, KY, died May 3, 2008 in Kingsport,
TN. Born in Letcher County, she was a daughter of the late Levi and Sylvania
Potter and the widow of Teddy V. Bumgardner. She was also preceded in death by a
daughter, Rebecca Fann Bumgardner, and 10 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Bumgardner
was a school teacher and aided in the family business. She was active in
community affairs and was a member of the Jenkins First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia C. Porier, Norfolk, Va.; three grandchildren,
Beth Barnett, Catherine Edwards, and Tracy Porier; and two greatgrandchildren,
Caitlin Edwards and Joshua Edwards. Funeral services were held May 6, 2008
at Carty Funeral Home in Jenkins, Letcher Co KY. Burial was in the Fann
Bumgardner Cemetery at Burdine, KY.
