Obituary: Roy Earl Addington 25 Sept 1919 - 26 Apr 1990
Roy Earl Addington, 70, of Elkhorn City, Ky., died last Thursday in Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, Ky. He was a native of Russell County, a member of the Methodist Church in Clinchco (Virginia), and a retired miner. Surviving are his wife Edith May Potter Addington; one son, Haskell Addington of Elkhorn City, Ky.; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Mann of Elkhorn City, Ky.; two sisters, Pauline Mullins of Haysi (VA), and Catherine Fletcher of Clintwood; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services for Addington were held Sunday in Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Elkhorn City, Ky., with William Compton officiating. Burial followed in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville, Ky. Bailey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Brian Milburn Potter, 67, son of James W. Potter and Nancy Telford Hay Potter, died unexpectedly on February 10, 2017. Born on May 10, 1949, in Pikeville, Kentucky, and a long-time resident of Lexington, Kentucky and Dunedin, Florida, Brian graduated from Elkhorn City High School in 1967. He then headed to the University of Kentucky where he joined Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, forged important lifelong friendships, and graduated in 1972. Brian married Nancy L. Webb, of Fort Valley, Georgia, and together they raised their daughter, Ashton. He was a selfless and loving husband, father, and friend. Known for his full-of-life personality, caring nature, and perpetually positive outlook, Brian made friends in many circles. He sought to make a difference through his professional work, his involvement in many civic organizations, and service on various boards.
Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an outstanding cook and the consummate host. Friends could always count on him for a good pour, a great meal, and a lot of laughs. Fun-loving, loyal, and with a heart of gold, he was full of light and laughter and will be sorely missed by family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Nan Potter; his wife of 45 years, Nancy W. Potter; daughter Ashton Potter Wright, son-in-law Jonathan Wright, and precious grandson Potter Ellison Wright; brothers Derek J. Potter (Kolleen), David W. Potter (Devonnia), Michael L. Potter (Hilda), and their families; and special family friends, Julie, Will, Lili, and Dorsey Williams. His father, James W. Potter, predeceased him. Visitation and a celebration of Brian’s life will be held at the Thomas Hunt Morgan House located at 210 North Broadway in Lexington on Monday, February 13, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Lexington Cemetery on February 14, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Blue Grass Trust.

Nancy T. Potter, 97 of Nicholasville, KY formerly of Elkhorn City, KY passed away Wednesday, May 06, 2020. Nancy was born April 18, 1923 in Jarrow, England to the late William James Hay & Elizabeth Mary Cruckshank Hay. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, James Walter Potter, a son, Brian Potter and eight siblings, Doris, Mary, Shelia, Pamela, William, Thomas, Malcom & John. Nancy is survived by three sons, Derek (Kolleen) Potter & David (Devonnia) Potter both of Lexington, KY and Michael Potter of Nicholasville, KY; daughter-in-law, Nancy Webb Potter; eight grandchildren, John Potter, Courtney Kowalchuk, Brandon Potter, Ashton Wright, Kristen Westlake, Stephanie Ramsey, James Potter & Dane Potter; and seventeen great-grandchildren, Jarrett Potter, John Potter, Anabelle Potter, Abbey Potter, Lilly Kowalchuk, Katie Kowalchuk, Potter Wright, Miller Wright, Reagan Potter, Brooks Potter, Conor Murray, Poet Westlake, Baxton Westlake, Vann Westlake, Alexandra Ramsey, Victoria Ramsey & Catherine Ramsey. A private funeral and burial were conducted due to the restrictions from the pandemic.

Edith Mae Addington, 93, of Elkhorn City, (KY) died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pike County, (KY) October 3, 1916, the daughter of the late Willie C. Potter and Parlee Ratliff. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Addington; one son, Haskell E. Addington; two brothers, James W. Potter and Milburn Potter; one sister, Chic Grundman.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Mann of Elkhorn City; one sister, Mary E. Manning of Independence; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 28, at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Shawn Bruce officiating. Burial followed in the Johnson Memorial Park.
Bailey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
