More About Nathan Ratliff (Ratcliffe)

Nathan Ratliff made a will on July 23, 1834 which was probated on 5 January, 1835. Nathan Ratliff was a farmer. Nathan Ratliff was a private in the Revolutionary War in which he entered service on 1 June 1778, at age 16.

He served one month against the Indians under Captain Joshua Wilson and Lieutenant William Hungate. Nathan Ratliff went out under Captain Abraham Trigg on 1 July 1780. They marched to the Yadkin River in North Carolina and defeated the Tories in a skirmish.

Nathan Ratliff served eight months in all and received a Pension in 1834 for his services. Nathan Ratliff was appointed on 7 February 1797 as overseer of the road leading from the mouth of Indian Creek in Montgomery County, Virginia to where the same joins the main road leading from New River.
