4586. Greenberry "Berry" Tackett

BERRY TACKETT
While sitting here alone, if the Lord will give me the mind and strength, I will try to write a short sketch of the life of my loving husband, Berry Tackett. He was the son of Andy and Hannah Tackett. He was born April 29, 1910. He died April 28, 1964, liked one day being 54 years old when sweet Jesus sent and took him home to live with his daddy that left him in 1949. He was first married to Elvie Hamilton in July 1928. To this union was born 6 children, 4 daughters and 2 sons. His companion and one daughter preceded him in death. Then he was married the second time to Mahala Tackett in July, 1942. Unto this union was born 3 children, 2 sons and 1 daughter, which the Lord loved our baby better than we did and took it when it was only 3 weeks old. So I be-lieve that Berry is resting with the rest of the family that God has taken away from us. He leaves a lonesome wife, 3 girls, 4 boys, a sweet mother and 23 grandchildren, also a host of friends to mourn with us. Berry loved every body. While he was in the hospital he had so m a n y visitors, the nurses said he had more friends than anybody. Berry didn't belong to the church, but he loved the Baptist family. We always went to church. We loved to go to church. It Was for a while before Berry took sick that he worked so hard that he wanted to stay at home and rest. But still he would talk about not going to church. He told me and his mother not long before he died that he would like for the good Lord to let him live long enough to tell the people what he had done for him. He said with his sweet trembling voice that he had a better home to go to. He told his mother that him and her was standing on a little platform and a ladder to it and one of the others had to climb that ladder. So I feel like that sweet Jesus sent one of his Angels to climb the ladder with him. He loved his family so much that he wanted them to stay around him where he could see them at all times. He would say it done him good for any of us to have our hands on him. He had so much faith he wanted some of the good people to stay with him so they could put their hands.. on him and try on him. Seems like it would give him ease. He enjoyed people coming in and talking with him. Old brother Jerry Hall and some of the other good people stayed Sunday and Monday night with him. Jerry got up at mid night and started home. He looked up at Jerry and said with a very weak voice, Jerry if you leave me I, will be dead before daylight. So Jerry stayed with him. He hated to leave his his family so bad on Monday night before he died he called all his children and talked to them he told them he was going to Heaven and for them not to put it off to late to live right. I was standing at his back with my hands on his head he looked up at me and said to me, my sweet wife will you meet me in Heaven? I told him yes I don't feel like there is anything in between me and my Lord and I believe me and Berry will live together again. We did everything that we could do for him. All the children were good to stay and did every thing that their daddy wanted them to do. I stood by him and held to his hand just as long as I could stand it. It was hard to do but I knew that was what he wanted the last word I could under-stand him. He was trying to call my name. He would say my sweet mother. She stayed with him day and night. There are a lot of good things to say but I want to say Mother and dear sweet children we can't stand by and fan daddy any more, but we can live a good Christian life and live for the Lord. Then when we leave here we can live with Daddy where we will never be hungry for God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and Chaugheth nat. May I close his obituary by quoting here a poem which seems so fitting and appropriate to our memory of the sweetest husband and Daddy of all.
Dear Husband:
The world may change from year to year.
Our lives from day to day,
The loving memory of you, Dear Husband
shall never fade away.
I always sit and think of you and of the way you died.
and that you could not say Good-Bye
Before you closed your eyes.
Always so true, unselfish and kind.
Few in this world, your equal, we'll find.
A beautiful life that come to an end.
You died as you lived, every one's friend. In sad memory,
Written by his lonesome wife, Mahala Tackett

«u»«b»ANZIE OSBORNE NEWSOME
«/u»«/b»
It's with great sadness and the help of the good Lord that we'll try to write and obituary of Anzie Osborne Newsome.
Anzie was born February 12, 1912 and she departed this life April 28, 1984 while making her stay on earth seventy-two years, three months and sixteen days.
She was the daughter of Rhonda Moore and Oliver Frasure. When Anzie was two years old Hannah and Andy Tackett took her in their home. They loved her and raised her as if she was their own child. They both preceded her in death. She had one brother, Berry Tackett who also preceded her in death.
Anzie married Bryan Osborne in 1934, into this union was born one son Bryan Osborne Jr. of Wall Lake, Michigan. Later she married Andy Newsome. Both, Bryan and Andy preceded her in death.
Anzie joined the church in 1948. She loved to be with her brothers and sisters, her family and friends. She loved for them to come and visit her.
Anzie rejoiced on Sunday before she passed away and said she was going home. She leaves here on earth to mourn her loss, one son Bryan Osborne Jr., nine step-children, four grandchildren, five great granchildren, and a host of step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mahala and Berry's children also mourn her loss.
Anzie worked hard in this world and suffered a lot of sickness. But, we feel she has gone to Heaven where we expect to go some sweet day.

Margie and Andy Kiser

4605. Lillie Mae Tackett

«b»LILLIE MAE TACKETT HAMILTON «/b»
It is with much sadness and lonely hearts that we will try to write this obituary for our cherished mother and grandmother. Lillie Mae Tackett Hamilton was born June 1, 1917 at Teaberry, Kentucky, the daughter of the late George and Becky Bentley Tackett of Beaver, Ky. She passed away February 14, 1996. She lived a fulfilled 78 years. Lillie Mae married the late Ervin Hamilton on June 29,1933. Preceding her in death are 1 daughter, Wanda Hamilton, 3 sisters, 4 brothers, 1 grandchild and 2 great-grandchildren. Lillie Mae left with her heart full of happiness for she has taken her place in Heaven, to walk with God in perfect peace. She leaves behind her to mourn 8 children: Elizabeth Henson of Ivel, Ky.; Geneva June Hall, Eva June Vance, Verdie Mae Hamilton, Ray Hamilton Jr., Will Hamilton all residents of Beaver, Ky.; Ervin Hamilton Jr. of Lexington, Ky.; and Paul Eugene Hamilton of Danville, Ky. Also left are thirty grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. In our hearts we feel God took our mother on February 14, Valentines Day, to be with her beloved husband, Ervin, to reunite their everlasting love for eternity. One thing people always remembered about mother was her kind, warming smile. The family will never forget how that smile never ceased to warm their hearts. Forget your grief and tears, for that shining smile she had on earth is brighter, for she is in a perfect place. Mamaw loved to attend the Samaria Regular Baptist Church, when she was able. She loved working in her garden and raising her radiant flowers. To show her affection on those long winter days she made sublime quilts for her children. They will always possess these quilts she made with such maternal love. Each time we visited Mamaw, she would want us to either be sitting, talking and laughing, or sometimes, if they needed it, water her plants. She would always make sure that everyone had eaten. Mamaw was always sitting on the porch waiting for company, she loved having friends and family stop by and visit. We are happy to say that in the years she was with us she was always there for us, she didn't ask questions or judge us, she sat and listened with an understanding heart. We believe she tried to lead us down the right path, for she had the wisdom, strength, and the love in her heart to help us in our times of need. We would ask her "What would we ever do without you?" she would always reply with "Don't worry, I would never leave my family." Now we all realize what she meant, for she is still in our hearts. One very special gift she gave us was how to be a better person and parent, and to always show the love you have for your family. Our one wish is to be as strong, good, and loving as she was. You always saw these qualities in her. We feel that Mamaw is resting in peace with the Lord and loved ones. We believe our loss is Heaven's gain. Written by her ever-loving family

Ervin Hamilton

«b»ERVIN HAMILTON «/b»
It is with much sadness and empty hearts that we will try to write this obituary for our departed, but never forgotten, father and grandfather. Ervin Hamilton was born August 12, 1914 in Teaberry, the son of the late Wilburn Lee and Martha Jane Tackett Hamilton. Ervin passed away October 24, 1985, after a long illness. Ervin was 71 years of age. Ervin was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Hamilton, two sisters, two brothers, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Ervin leaves to walk the path with God to take his place in Heaven. He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife, Lillie Mae Tackett Hamilton; four sons: Ray Hamilton Jr. and Will Hamilton of Beaver; Ervin Hamilton Jr. of Lexington; Paul Eugene Hamilton of Danville; four daughters: Elizabeth Henson, Geneva Hall, Eva Vance and Verdie Mae Hamilton all of Beaver; six brothers: Frank and Sterling Hamilton both of Teaberry; Hershel and Willie Hamilton, both of Beaver; Russell Hamilton of Price and Wilburn Hamilton Jr. of Willard, Ohio; three sisters: Hazel Bentley and Mary Newsome, both of Beaver; Goldia Newsome of Price; 30 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ervin was a retired coal miner; he was a member of the U.M.W.A Local No. 8100 at Ligon. The last few words that I heard my grandfather say were, "God's sending his angels to take me home to be with my mother, girls pray with me." He took his daughters' hands, they began to pray, tears gently fell, they could see this peaceful look within him. God took away the foundation of the light and the man, but the light still shines and the memories still linger. The light shines bright in all our minds, our hearts and our dreams. The light that time will never dim, the man that we all will never forget. Father was one of the true gentleman of our times. He seemed to enjoy everyone that he met and left a great impression upon them. He liked visiting the courthouse to see his old buddies, and meeting new friends, for he never met a stranger. He especially loved the visits from the family and friends, for you had to sit down and watch his favorite sports, basketball and baseball games, or the news. You could look at him, and in his eyes you could see the warmth and love that was within him. His memory will always live on in our hearts and when the time comes for God to take us home, will take the path, and we shall unite again in Heaven's paradise. Written by his beloved Family
