Obituary Nancy Victoria Dunn Potter
Mrs. Nancy Victoria Potter, 73, died at 7:45 o'clock Friday
night at her home near Webb's store in Sullivan county TN, after a long illness
(14 Jul) Survivng are five sons, Edward Potter, Clarksville, Ohio, Wiley
Potter, Cincinnati, Ohio, Roy Potter, Praise, Ky., and Stacy and Clyde Potter,
Bluff City TN, and six daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Dowell, Mrsl Stella Johnson, and
Mrs. Nessie Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Pearl NIchols, Knoxville, Tenn.,
Mrs. Hessie Rosenbaum, Bluff City, and Mrs. Carolee Swift, Cain River, N. C.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon
at the residence, in charge of the Rev. John Buchanan, burial to follow at
Shouns, Tenn. The body was removed to
teh residence last evening from the Bluff City Funeral Home.(1944).

John L,. was located in Wilkes Co., Tenn during the 1840
census with his wife, Nancy age 21 and Letetia age 3 and James E. age 1. Their oldest child was deceased and the name
is unknown.
During the 1850 census, John L. was still living in Wilkes
Co., NC along with his wife, Nancy age 31, Letetia age 13, James E. age 11,
Ruth age 8, Elizabeth age 6, Sarah age 4, Mariah age 3 and Jincy age 1. All were born in North Carolina.
During the 1860 census John L. was living in Johnson Co.,
Tn. He moved there after John was born
in 1854. He was living there with his
wife, Nancy M. age 44, Elizabeth age 17, Sarah age 16, Mary J. age 13, Jincy L.
age 11, Dinney M. age 8 and John W. age 6.
All were born in North Carolina.
John was living with his daughter Delilah and Amos Rash during
the 1870 census in Johnson County, Tenn.
There were 8 children assumed to be the children of Amos, either from a
previous marriage or some from a previous and this marriage.
During the 1880 census John and Nancy were living in the same
household. He was 65 and she was 63. They were living alone. Both born in North Carolina

During the 1900 census of Sulllivan Co., Tn. John age 85 and
Nancy age 81 are living together without any one living with them.
During the 1910 census of the counties of Tennessee, they were
not located.
John Levy was in the Civil War. He must have learned to write his name while
in service because when he went in he only marked a X and by the end of service
he was writing his name per Gerry Dowell's notes.
He married Nancy Margaret Jarvis.
