Obituary of Curtis Potter 1 June 1917 - 8 March 1986
Curtis Potter, son of Matilda Mullins Potter and the late King Potter, was born at Haymond, Ky. on June 1 1917, he passed from this life at the Whitesburg Hospital on March 8, 1986, making his stay here on earth 68 years, 9 months and 7 days. Curtis was a World War II veteran having served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre. He was a retired miner having worked in mines for over 35 years, being a mchine operator. He was a member of the Hemphill Freewill Baptist Church for fourteen months. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing while he was able. Curtis was married to Alice McPeak at Neon, Ky. on November 15 1947. One brother King Potter preceded him in death. Curtis is survivedby his wife, Alice, of Jackhorn, Letcher Co Ky., his mother, Tilda Potter, of Jackhorn; two daughters, Elouyse Wilson of McRoberts; Virginia Cockron of Lawton, Alk.(Arkansas?); sons: Arthur Belcher of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Harold Belcher of McRoberts, Ky.; Harrison Potter of Maringo, Ohio; Curwood Potter, Jr. of Jackhorn; A. C. Potter of Waverlyhall, Ga.; sisters: Hazel Kiser of Jackhorn, Annie Sarlous of Detroit, Mich; Lizzy Haddix of Indianapolis, Ind; brother, Granvil Potter of Florida. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and a good number of great grandchildren and a host of other relatvies and friends to mourn his passing.
