Wanda Deane Rodgers Reynolds
10 Feb 1940 - 19 May 2016

Wanda was born the second of four children to Rev. Clel and Lucille Rodgers, in Louisville, Kentucky. She grew up all over Kentucky as her father pastored churches throughout the state. In the summer, her childhood days were spent on the tobacco farm of her grandparents and the dairy farm of her aunt, uncle, and cousin Pat, in Shelby County. When Wanda was in junior high school her family moved to Whitesburg, Kentucky, in the Eastern Kentucky coalfields. It was there, in high school, that she met James Lewis Reynolds, who she married on August 19, 1960.

Though Wanda was a successful businesswoman, she often claimed as her vocation, motherhood to which she devoted her life. In Kentucky, while excelling at being a mother, she and her business partner also built a chain of successful gift shops in Eastern and Central Kentucky. She and her family moved to Winter Park, Florida in 1989. From the time Wanda and James moved their home and family to Florida, she has been a member of Church on the Drive, formerly College Park Baptist. God, family and friends are what filled her life whether in Kentucky or Florida. Wanda liked to keep up with her friends, staying close with many friends from high school through the years.

Wanda's fight with cancer began about 5 years ago, first with a breast cancer diagnosis, and several years later a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. Wanda did not look forward to the treatment, but did look forward to more time with her family. She battled hard and kept hope for recovery, for as long as possible. Wanda Rodgers Reynolds, born February 19, 1940 in Louisville, KY died on May 19, 2016 in her home in Orlando, Florida, following a battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Lewis Reynolds; Daughters: Donna Reynolds White of Winter Park, FL; Ramona Reynolds Netto (Paulo) of Orlando, FL; Suzy Reynolds Heinbockel (John) of Ocala, FL; Sons: John Reynolds (Aurea) of Orlando, FL, Birt Reynolds of Brooklyn, NY; Rodger Reynolds (Melissa) of Winter Park, FL. Grandchildren: Dusten White, Holli White Thomas (Ash), Lucy White, Devin White, Charles Netto, Lewis Heinbockel, Rachel Heinbockel, Ava Reynolds, William Reynolds, Brady Reynolds, Eli Reynolds. Great Granddaughters: Rio Thomas, Penny Thomas. Her brother Dr. John L. Rodgers (Gaynell) of Vero Beach, FL, and her sister Mary Frazier (Charles) of Wheatfield, IN and her cousin Pat (Bill) Schrader of Winter Park, FL.

Wanda is preceded in death by both of her parents, Rev. Clel and Lucille Long Rodgers, her brother Glenn "Buz" Rodgers and her foster sister Ada Gonzalez. Her family, including her sister and brother in law Mahala and JC, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends deeply mourn her loss and treasure her memory.

Memorial services in Florida will be held on Monday, May 23rd at 11:00 am at Church on the Drive, 1914 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, FL. In Kentucky, memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 28th at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Whitesburg, KY. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts be given to these congregations, their home churches, in support of their ministries.
