Obituary of Robert Strange
(March 12, 1927 - February 5, 2009)

Robert Lee Strange, Jr., 81, of West Columbia, West Virginia, passed away Thursday morning, February 5, 2009, at the Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of the Sandhill Road Church of Christ and was a coal miner in Kentucky. He was born, March 12, 1927, in Jackhorn, Kentucky to the late Robert L. and Winnie (Mullins) Strange, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara E. (Bentley) Strange, daughter, Rita Knapp, five brothers and five sisters.

Robert Lee Strange Jr. is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Philip Shirley of South Point, Ohio and Rhonda and Jim Boswell of West Columbia, West Virginia; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Juanita Strange of Letart, West Virginia; four sisters, Mary Bailey of Harlen, Kentucky, Myrtle Potter of Jackhorn, Kentucky, Ollie Rusella of Livionia, Michigan and Emma Miller of Jackson, Ohio; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, with Minister, Pete Allinder, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Letart, West Virginia. Visitation will be held from 12 until 1 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. JOYCE S. SHIRLEY, 70, of South Point, Ohio passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016, at home. She was born February 7, 1946, in Martin, Ky., to the late Robert and Barbara Bentley Strange. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Rita Knapp. She was a member of South Point United Methodist Church. Joyce is survived by her husband Philip Shirley; one son, Patrick Shirley; one brother, John Strange of Letart, W.Va.; one sister, Rhonda Boswell of West Columbia, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor D.L. Webb. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at the funeral home.

Obituary of Floyd Ray Knapp

Floyd Ray Knapp. U.S. Veteran Floyd Ray Knapp, 63, of Letart, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2011, as a result of an auto accident. Floyd served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of Vietnam. He was an employee of Lieving Plumbing and Heating, of Point Pleasant. He was a retired United Mine Worker from the AEP Meigs Mine #31. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the mountains and spending time with family, especially the grand kids. He was always there to help when needed.

Floyd Ray Knapp was born on November 3, 1947, in Letart, a son to the late Eugene and Ella (Durst) Knapp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita (Strange) Knapp; his sister, Beatrice; his infant brother, Charles and brother Claude Knapp. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Sarah Jane and Casey Hart and Beth and James Miller, all of Letart; and Steven and Kim Knapp, of Columbus, OH; his grandchildren, Dustin Hart, Tristan Wilson and Aidan Miller and Steven Ray Knapp; three brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Beverly Knapp, James Knapp and Tom and Donna Knapp; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda Sturgeon, Maxine and Jack Warner and Sharon and Larry Willcoxen; several nieces and nephews and his friends and neighbors of the Letart community, especially his best friend, Tom Christie.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Letart, with Pastor Bob Patterson officiating. Military honors will be provided by the West Virginia Honor Guard and the American Legion, Mason County Post #23. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the: Evergreen Cemetery Fund, 23058 Sandhill Road, Letart, WV, 25253.
